Instagram is Closing the Separate App for Chatting

Instagram is closing the separate app for chatting Direct after one and half year of testing.

TechCrunch writes it with reference to the representative of Instagram.

Direct will close in June of 2019.

The dialogues will be saved in the private messages section (Direct) in the main Instagram app.
The company has not explained this decision. TechCrunch marks, that the decision was made right after parent company Facebook has announced the plans about the united system of messages exchange creation between all its services: Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Instagram has started testing Direct in December of 2017.

It was available for Chile, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Turkey and Uruguay.
For devices on Android and iOS. Users could send the messages, share photos and videos.
After the Direct installation private messages section has being disappeared.
The company doesn’t disclose the information about the quantity of these, who got an Instagram access.
